It is one of the easier trekking routes in the Annapurna region. The trail takes you through beautiful Modi khola valley up to Poon-hill, at the foothill of the Annapurna massif. Poon Hill is a viewpoint to see the Annapurna peaks including Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), Mt. Dhaulagiri to the north and the transcendental valley to the south. The region is dominated by the Gurungs and Magars, both are ethnic groups of Nepal. While descending on the way back to Pokhara, we pass through the paved courtyards of Ghandruk village, another popular traditional village of Gurungs and there we can experience their age old tradition and culture and interact with the local people.
